The Trail
Located 30km inland from St Helens, the Blue Tier Forest Reserve offers a range of hiking and riding opportunities, the easiest of which is the Goblin Forest Walk. Leaving from the Poimena car park, this easy 500m loop walk serves as an introduction to the mining history for the reserve through the use of interpretive signs.
Aside from the signage and a few scattered mining relics this walk doesn’t offer much. However the barbecue shelter adjacent to the trailhead is a suitable location to base from while exploring the other walks within the reserve such as the Moon Rim Valley walk.

From St Helens head north on Ceclila Street (A3) and continue along the highway for 18km before turning right onto Lottah Road. The road winds through Goulds Country for 8.3km before continuing right onto Poimena Road. Poimena Road is in poor gravel condition and care should be taken climbing the further 3km to the Poimena car park on Sun Flat Road. |
