The Trail
The Greens Beach to West Head Lookout track is a leisurely 11km, 3-hour return walk taking in the commanding ocean views and lovely coastal scenery of the Narawntapu National Park. The trail begins from the Greens Beach township and ventures west past house frontage for the initial 30 minutes before eventually opening up to more untouched terrain. The gravelled trail is well constructed and attractive ocean views are continuously on show as you pass Pebbly Beach and Nudist Beach (in name only). Both beaches provide suitable sites to stop and soak in the views.
After 30 minutes, the trail crosses the threshold into Narawntapu National Park and the trail is followed through coastal heathland to the clifftop lookout of West Head. Occasional cairns mark out additional viewpoints to the Bass Straight and care should always be taken when approaching cliff edges.
The West Head Lookout offers vast views across Badgers Head Beach and Narawntapu are offered. From here, multiple routes direct you back to the trailhead. You can either retrace your steps or follow Gardener Road to the township’s centre.
