The Trail
Leaving from The Springs day use area, the small sandstone outcrop of Sphinx Rock makes a great short walk for all the family. Providing great views of Mount Wellington, Hobart and the eastern shore the walk is well worth the 1 hour return journey. The walk itself is just under 3km return via a well formed flat walking track. Sphinx Rock is a perfect family winter walk when access to The Springs is open and the weather is clear.
Walkers wishing to go slightly further can continue on to Junction Cabin another 3km return.

Hazards and Warnings
The drop from the outcrop’s edge is quite high, take care while walking across the rock. In winter the track can become quite icy and slippery.
